Description: In Part 2 of the Nmap Video series we will look at how to use Nmap for OS and Service level fingerprinting. OS and Service level information are very useful to network administrators and security auditors. This helps them understand the kind of hosts connected to the network and their exposure level. Though the OS / Service fingerprinting in Nmap works quite well, there are times when it fails to make a guess and will dump the fingerprinting info on the screen. If a user is aware of the OS of that machine, that it’s a good idea to submit the signature and info on the Nmap website , so the signature database can be updated. A detailed tutorial on the Nmap OS detection engine is available on the Nmap website. Links:

1.Download Nmap

2.Nmap Installation Guide

3.Nmap Documentation and Usage
